As the 2015 season progresses, so do the fortunes of Flashstorm, who had a pair of runaway winners on successive days this week, both bred by Northwest Stud. On Thursday, Flash Jak went wire-to-wire at Gulfstream Park as the 8/5 favorite, her second victory in her last three starts. With Jonathan Gonzales aboard, the 3-year-old filly opened up a seven-length lead in the stretch and jogged home by 10 1/2, getting six furlongs in 1:11.41. Yesterday, Flash Tips broke her maiden at Finger Lakes in much the same way, opening up by 4 1/2 in the stretch under Luis Perez and widening to 12 1/2 at the wire. She went off at even money. With just 20 starters, Flashstorm now has 14 winners this year and progeny earnings of $377,851.
