Gone Astray vaulted into second place on the national Freshman Sire List on Saturday when It's High Time avenged her defeat to Ballet Diva in the Cassidy Stakes, winning the $200,000 Desert Vixen at Gulfstream Park in a virtual romp. With Harry Hernandez aboard, It's High Time put away Silent Prayer on the turn, then drew off from Ballet Diva with ease in the final sixteenth of a mile, getting the six furlongs in 1:12.59. Ballet Diva, who was 2-for-2 after her 4 1/2-length score in the Cassidy on July 5, was sent off at 20 cents to a dollar, but tired to finish third after being rebuffed by It's High Time in the stretch. It's High Time paid $23.20 as the third choice in the wagering, and owner/breeder Tracy Pinchin was rewarded with a winner's check of $120,000. That boosted her filly's earnings to $161,200 and Gone Astray's progeny earnings to $309,853 for the year. He trails only champion Uncle Mo in that department nationally, and is alone in first place on the Florida list. Along with West Virginia stakes-winner Bullet Gone Astray, the son of Dixie Union could have a formidable duo ready next month for the seven-furlong second legs of the Florida Sire Stakes - the Affirmed and Susan's Girl.
