At the 2014 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training in April, Northwest Stud was the consignor of HIP No. 1093, a dark bay or brown colt by More Than Ready out of the Deputy Minister mare Coya. The Kentucky-bred colt, later named Bollente, was purchased for $550,000 by Canada's leading trainer, Ocalan Mark Casse, for his No. 1 client, John Oxley. Bollente made the second start of his career for Casse in the third race at Gulfstream Park today, a $45,000 maiden special at 7 1/2 furlongs over the turf course. With Jose Lezcano aboard, Bollente made a three-wide move on the turn and into the stretch and wore down the leaders to score by three-quarters of a length to collect the winner's check of $24,000. Northwest's blockbuster $1.5 million sale, Carpe Diem, is currently on the Kentucky Derby trail.
