Gone Astray is closing in on the $3 million mark in career progeny earnings after the victories of Gone Honorable at Penn National and Abar Caterpillar at Camarero Race Track, the stallion's second and third winners of 2017. Gone Honorable, a Pennsylvania-bred, broke her maiden in her third start, going wire-to-wire under Dana Whitney and reporting home four lengths in front at the end of 5 1/2 furlongs. The score was worth $12,312 to owner/breeder Myron Wilson . . . Abar Caterpillar was coming off a third-place finish in the Gr. I Clasico Agustin Mercado Reveron Stakes and went wire-to-wire at 5 1/2 furlongs under Jomar Garcia, opening up an eight-length lead in the stretch, then drawing off by nearly 11 lengths at the wire. The 3-year-old gelding bred by Diomar Iadasernia finished fifth in his career debut last August, but has since compiled a record of 2-3-1 in six starts. Gone Astray's career earnings have reached $2,993,995.
