Gone Astray's first 2-year-old starter of 2016, Carrie, broke her maiden in her second try yesterday at Santa Anita, running heavily favored Tap It All into the ground with a 22.14 first quarter and going on to score by nearly three lengths over the 1/9 choice. Carrie, bred by Murray Stroud, had finished second in her debut just 13 days before at odds of 25-1 at Los Alamitos, but the betting public still let her get away at 11-1. She earned $33,600 for her initial score, accomplished in :52.06 for the 4 1/2 furlongs, and has banked $42,600 overall. Gone Astray is currently Florida's second-leading second-crop sire with earnings of $482,539.
