Natalie La Rose was a poorly-kept wagering secret as she went virtually wire-to-wire in her career debut at Tampa Bay Downs yesterday. The 3-year-old Gone Astray filly battled for the lead between horses for a quarter of a mile, opened up on the turn and was 4 1/2 lengths in front in mid-stretch, then was geared down by leading rider Antonio Gallardo nearing the wire to score by three-quarters. Bet down to even money and paying $4.20, Natalie Rose became Gone Astray's fifth winner in 17 days and helped boost his progeny earnings to $93,948. With several runners in the entries in the next several days, Gone Astray could surpass $100,000 in short order.
