Gone Deep went deep at Monmouth Park on Sunday, overcoming some traffic problems to score a convincing victory at 5 1/2 furlongs under Tampa Bay Downs' leading rider, Antonio Gallardo. The 3-year-old gelding by Gone Astray was caught behind horses turning for home, but when he got clear, he proved to be a ton the best, reaching the wire nearly five lengths in front. Gone Deep didn't run as a 2-year-old, and is now 2-0-2 in seven starts at three. The winner's check of $9,006 pushed Gone Astray's seasonal earnings to $1,159,560.
