There appears to be no letup to the recent success of Gone Astray, who celebrated a long shot winner sprinting on the grass yesterday at Gulfstream Park. Dixie Grits, bred by Sara Lynn Yutani and her daughter, Marti Haught, owner of The Tack Shack in Ocala, went wire-to-wire to break her maiden under Aby Medina, scoring by 1 1/4 lengths and getting the five furlongs in a swift :56.99. The 3-year-old filly paid $53.40, while becoming winner No. 25 for Gone Astray and his sixth in the last eight days. The $10,400 winner's check boosted his progeny earnings for the year to $643,030, sixth best on the Florida sire list for 2017 even though his third crop hasn't begun racing yet.
