About Northwest Stud

Since the story below was published in the April 2012 issue of the Florida Horse, Northwest Stud has continued to grow its stallion roster and has become a major force in the Florida thoroughbred breeding industry. Once part of the legendary Hooper Farm, the newly constructed stallion barn is situated within the Nelson Jones Training Complex and is home to sons of prominent sires of sires and includes three new stallions of millionaire, Grade I and champion status.

Stallion director Alfredo Lichoa stands by a commitment to excellence. “Our goal is to establish the best breeding operation we can for Florida’s breeders,” Lichoa said. “Breeders are relying on the stud farms to offer quality stallions. We want to find the best horses and stallions for Florida. We’re committed to the Florida program and we want to be here for Florida breeders and help improve the industry.”
