After finishing third in the Sea of Grass Stakes in his previous start, Abounding Legacy broke through for his first stakes victory at Gulfstream Park yesterday. The 4-year-old Flashstorm gelding captured the $75,000 Trinniberg Stakes by a neck, clocked in an excellent 1:22.70 for the seven furlongs, and collected $44,175 for the effort. He paid $6.40 as favorite. Bred by Northwest Stud, Abounding Legacy is his sire's leading money-winner with more than $207,000 in the bank. He sports a record of 5-4-3-2 in 15 starts, finishing worse than fourth just once . . . Earlier on the program, Flashing Cat picked up a check of $9,100 after scoring his fourth lifetime victory, and third since April. The 4-year-old son of Flashstorm sat in mid-pack early with Lane Luzzi aboard, moved on the turn and won it by one-half length with a strong stretch run. Flashing Cat, bred by The Big Stable, was the 9/10 favorite and covered six furlongs in 1:11.70.
