Flashstorm helped Gulfstream West get off to a good start after Hurricane Matthew passed through, when Flashing Cat scored a 4-length victory Saturday despite getting away seventh in a race at 5 1/2 furlongs. The 4-year-old colt moved up on the turn, swept pass the field and drew off in the stretch to raise his record to 5-3-2 in 19 starts, while collecting $8,500 . . . At Penn National, Flash Paws was moved up from second by disqualification after being soundly bumped repeatedly in the stretch and still falling just a neck short at the wire. The 5-year-old gelding was sent off at 4/5 in the one mile and 70-yard race, and the $8,880 winner's check increased his total to $89,652 as he looks to become his sire's fifth $100,000-plus earner. Flashstorm's progeny earnings for 2016 are less than $5,000 short of the $500,000 mark - he has 19 winners from 36 starters, or 53 percent.
