Sassy Astray turned in one of the most professional performances of the new Gulfstream Park meeting Friday, breaking her maiden at 7 1/2 furlongs on the grass while becoming Gone Astray's 46th winner of the year. With Paco Lopez aboard, the 3-year-old filly broke well and settled in comfortably on the rail, just behind the two pacesetters. Lopez kept her there until they neared the stretch, where he swung her out three wide and Sassy Astray took over from there, galloping away from the field and winning by 4 3/4 widening lengths. The victory was worth $12,200.
