Stakes-winning Bullet Gone Astray, who finished third in the Gr. III Carry Back Stakes in his previous start, became Gone Astray's 24th winner of 2016 yesterday when he made a sweeping move from last place to easily capture a $44,000 allowance optional claimer at Gulfstream Park. With Marcos Meneses aboard, the 3-year-old colt was nearly six lengths behind after half a mile in the seven-furlong race, but a five-wide move turning into the stretch propelled him to the lead and he won going away by 1 1/2 lengths, clocked in 1:23.56. The victory was worth $27,000, and increased Bullet Gone Astray's career earnings to $179,810, second best among his sire's runners behind It's High Time.
