Flashstorm has picked up his fifth and sixth winners of the season, one of them surpassing the $100,000 mark in earnings and the other fast approaching it, both runners bred by Northwest Stud. At Gulfstream Park yesterday, in a bizarre wagering episode, Flash Jak scored her seventh career victory, earned a check for $10,000, and raised her career total to $102,020. As Paco Lopez urged the 5-year-old mare into the gate, she was the 6/5 favorite on the tote board. However, a rash of late money on another horse boosted Flash Jak's price to 2-1 right after the break, when Paco had her sitting just off the pacesetter. He moved her into the lead in the two path on the turn and Flash Jak ran away and hid down the lane, scoring by 5 1/2 widening lengths with Paco peeking under his shoulder looking for the rest of the field. The horse with all of the late play was never in the hunt . . . At Aqueduct, Cinderela El Crome picked up his third victory with a wire-to-wire score at odds of 23-1 in a $58,000 starter optional claimer at six furlongs. The 3-year-old colt broke on top and maintained the lead throughout, holding off 4/5 favorite Toga Challenger by a neck at the wire. Cinderela El Crome collected $34,800 for the victory and boosted his earnings to $84,990.
