Three Rules became graded stakes-placed for the first time yesterday, finishing a bang-up second in the $200,000, Gr. II Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The 3-year-old Gone Astray colt finished less than a length behind Favorable Outcome in the seven-furlong test and picked up a check for $39,600, which pushed his career total to $740,240 on a record of 5-1-0 in seven starts . . . Gone Astray added two more winners to his ledger this week and now has nine for the young season. At Gulfstream, lightly-raced Gone Jak made his first start for his new connections and was more than impressive, moving at the half-mile pole, coming three to four wide into the stretch and leaving the field behind with a five-length score in 1:11.34 for the six furlongs. The 3-year-old colt had been claimed out of his last start - where he missed by a nose - just 18 days before by N. T. S. Stable and trainer Milt Wolfson. He's 2-1-0 in four starts and collected $15,000 for his latest victory . . . At Turfway Park, Macanao scored his second victory via a sweeping, six-wide move that reeled in the leaders, and the 4-year-old gelding went on to win the five-furlong race by one-half length . . . Gone Astray lifted his progeny earnings to $204,153; he's Florida's fourth-leading sire of 2017 and second-leading third-crop sire.
