Gone Astray has added two more romping 3-year-old winners to his ledger, one at Monmouth Park and one at Mountaineer Casino & Racetrack. At Monmouth yesterday, Gone Local captured a $40,000 allowance optional claimer at a flat mile and put $22,800 into the bank for Tim Mawhinney and co-owner/trainer Kathleen O'Connell. Antonio Gallardo placed the colt perfectly on the rail behind the two early leaders, and when the two separated turning for home, Gone Local shot between them and drew off with authority to score by 4 1/4 lengths. It was his second victory in seven starts . . . At Mountaineer, Space Trip broke his maiden by emulating Gone Local's mile trip, sitting second behind the pacesetter, going up to take over the lead after three-quarters, and cruising to the wire 3 1/2 lengths in front after opening up five in the stretch. The gelding became winner No. 23 for Gone Astray, whose progeny earnings for the year have jumped to $835,285, second best among Florida's second-crop sires.
